FAQs

What’s so great about matcha?

Most of all, we love the taste - but matcha also provides a number of benefits you won’t get from coffee, energy drinks or even other teas. Because you’re drinking the whole leaf instead of steeping, you get all the antioxidants and vitamins that would otherwise be thrown away with the tea bag.

What kind of matcha does enclave serve?

All matcha is NOT created equal! We will always be serving fresh ceremonial-grade matcha from Uji, Kyoto, as well as rare and special varieties when we get them. Whether you’re new to matcha or a longtime fan, we’ll have something you’re going to love.

Alright enough about matcha already. What else do you have?

All kinds of great teas from Japan and elsewhere. Cold-pressed juice. House-made chai. Cocktails. Cookies and pastry baked in house. Biscuits and biscuit sandwiches Hoagie sandwiches. Salads with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Cheese.

Do you have any vegan options?

Absolutely! We’re doing our best to make a vegan version of several of our favorites. Like the rest of the menu, keep an eye out for seasonal favorites.

Note: At the time of opening, we don’t have as many as we’d like, but in the coming weeks keep an eye on our instagram. We’re working on something good.

Where can I park?

Street parking only, but it’s usually easy to find a spot. The city was kind enough to give us a couple 15 minute pickup spots out front, if you just want to grab something and go.

Do you take reservations?

Sorry, no. First come, first serve.

What is matcha?

Matcha is a a type of green tea that’s grown in the shade, steamed, dried and ground into a fine powder. There are many varieties but the best matcha comes from the Uji region of Japan at farms that have operated the same way for centuries. It’s prepared by using a bamboo whisk called a chasen in a specialized bowl called a chawan.

Does matcha have caffeine?

Yes! Roughly the same level as a coffee per cup. Another great thing about matcha is the way caffeine reaches you when you drink it. We’re all familiar with the coffee crash, but that won’t happen with matcha. It wears off much more slowly and evenly.

What’s the best way to drink matcha?

Any way you like! The traditional ways are made with only matcha and water. They’re called usucha, or “thin-tea”, and koicha, or “thick tea”. Matcha’s recent popularity has been primarily driven by matcha lattes, which are made the same way as usucha but with milk/alt-milk instead of water. On top of that we love matcha with lemonade, mineral water, coconut water and sometimes even some tequila…

Can I bring my dog?

The health code unfortunately says, other than service animals, dogs aren’t allowed inside a food service establishment. Much of the year we’ll have the patio open where well-behaved dogs are more than welcome. We’ll even be making some treats for our furry friends!

Do you have public Wi-Fi, a phone, or delivery?

Not right now.

Is enclave wheelchair accessible?

It will be soon. There is some construction going on next door that has rendered the ADA entrance unusable, but within the next few weeks we’ll be set up for everyone to visit
